About Lewshan
My name is Sam McHugh and I am a small hobby breeder based in Cambridgeshire, my breed prefix has been established since 2007. I decided to get a female Radoll to breed from after having had a Ragdoll Neuter boy for a while. I decided to have my prefix as Lewshan after my children Lewis and Shannon.
I have had cats for the last 22 years and started with Colourpoint Persians and Exotics, eventually I had children so no longer bred the persian. As my children got older I decided I would like to get another cat but have a different breed, I attended the National Cat Club show at Olympia where there was a display of different breeds of cat and we loved the Ragdolls, they "ticked all the boxes" they were colourpointed, fluffy and didn't get runny eyes like persians - we were hooked and within a month I had started to search for a Ragdoll. We got Lazlo or Pr Adsetlo Bouden Blues from Gemma Nevin which there is more about on another page.
We have moved on from one Ragdoll and now have 4, I bred my first litter in 2007, all our cats are kept indoors with access to an outdoor run, we will only breed from each girl once a year depending our family circumstances.
In 2009 I decided to breed and show a different sort of cat from a colourpoint Ragdoll. Eventually we decided on a Mainecoon due to their lovely nature and the sheer size, and also the many different colours that they come in. We hope to have our first litter of Mainecoons either later this year or early next.
I have dogs which live with the cats. Shannon and Lewis my children, regularly handle the cats and kittens. The kittens are born and kept in our kitchen so go to their new homes totally integrated and used to normal household noises.
